The entire project was installed beginning in May 2016, finishing up in November. Hydro mobile scaffold was utilized on every elevation of the building for the installation of the multiple products on this project. The construction started North elevation of the structure, which consisted of a mix of modular brick and cast stone sills. JM2 moved to the East and West sides of the building to continue laying brick and cast stone sills. While on the South elevation, JM2 finished installing the brick and cast stone sills, while having a second crew lay the full bed Renaissance stone on the entry way and pier. After completing the bulk of the full bed material, Hydro mobile was set on the West side to complete the 44’ tall, elevated thin stone rain-screen system, which was followed by the mirrored East elevation bump-out. The final portion of the rain-screen system at the East side of the main entrance was completed out of an aerial boom lift so the landscapers could simultaneously set pavers.
Thank you to the construction team for your dedication, hard work, long hours, and learning a new installation system to get this project completed!
Graham Construction awarded Jeff MacTaggart Masonry the contract for Broadlawns Medical Clinic in October of 2015. The new clinic is located on the East side of the main Broadlawns Medical Campus on Hickman Road in Des Moines, IA.
The new clinic will house specialty clinics for services including a Dental Clinic, an Out Patient Mental Health Clinic, addiction services and intensive out-patient therapy clinic. Scheduled for 2018, Broadlawns plans to use the current shell space on the 4th floor to jointly administer a Psychiatric Residency Program with Unity Point-Des Moines. With the new Broadlawns Dental Clinic housed in this building, they will be able to expand their capacity to twenty-two operating rooms from the eight they currently have.
The exterior of the project consisted of 148,000 modular brick units, 2,700, 4”x12”x24” Arriscraft Renaissance units at the front entry, including a 52’ tall pier. Also included on the project was 540 lineal foot of cast stone sill and 7,700 square foot of ArrisClip installed on the Gridworx System. The entirety of the exterior material was provided by United Brick and Tile in Des Moines which consisted of Endicott Brick, Arriscraft full bed stone, Arriscraft cast stone sills, Arriscraft ArrisClip thin stone material, as well as the Gridworx aluminum rain screen system. On the interior, JM2 had more Arriscraft Renaissance units that passed through the curtain wall system to make up piers within the main entry vestibule as well as conference rooms on the third and fourth floors. To finish up the interior work, JM2 laid a three story mechanical shaft consisting of 2,100, 8”x8”x16” standard CMU units.
